Last updated: 12 May 2026

1. Who we are

City Locksmith London ("we", "us", "our") operates the website city-locksmith.co.uk and provides 24/7 locksmith services across Greater London. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at contact@city-locksmith.co.uk or call 020 4524 6667.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, phone number, postcode, service required, and any message you choose to send via our contact form.
  • Telephone enquiries: your phone number (from caller ID) and any information you provide during the call. We do not record phone calls.
  • Service appointments: address of the property, type of work required, and payment details (processed by our card terminal provider, not stored by us).
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring website. This is collected by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security and analytics purposes.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy for full details.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Responding to your enquiry and providing a quote
  • Dispatching a locksmith to your property
  • Invoicing and processing payment for services rendered
  • Following up after the job to confirm satisfaction
  • Improving our website and services through aggregated analytics
  • Measuring the performance of our advertising (Google Ads) where you have consented to marketing cookies
  • Complying with legal obligations (e.g. tax records)

4. Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, our legal bases for processing your personal information are:

  • Contract: to respond to enquiries, provide quotes, and deliver locksmith services you have requested.
  • Legitimate interests: for security, fraud prevention, basic analytics, and to improve our service. We have assessed that these interests do not override your rights.
  • Consent: for non-essential cookies (analytics, advertising). You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.
  • Legal obligation: to retain invoices and accounting records as required by HMRC.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your personal information only with the following categories of recipient, and only where necessary:

  • Cloudflare, Inc.: our website host and CDN. Cloudflare may process your IP address and request data in the United States and other jurisdictions under standard contractual clauses. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Google LLC: where you consent to analytics or advertising cookies, Google may receive technical information (IP address, page views, conversion events) to measure the effectiveness of our Google Ads campaigns. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Our locksmith technicians: the technician dispatched to your job will receive your name, contact details, and address.
  • HMRC and other regulators: where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers (Cloudflare, Google) are based outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. How long we keep your information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above:

  • Contact form enquiries that do not result in a job: deleted after 12 months.
  • Customer records (job details, invoices): retained for 7 years to comply with HMRC requirements.
  • Server logs: retained by Cloudflare for up to 30 days.
  • Analytics data: aggregated and anonymised after 26 months.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object: object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent (e.g. cookies), withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@city-locksmith.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

9. Right to complain

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

  • Website: ico.org.uk
  • Helpline: 0303 123 1113
  • Address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF

We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly before you contact the ICO. Please contact us first.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including TLS encryption for the website and contact form, restricted access to customer records, and secure email transmission. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

11. Children

Our services and website are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
